Greer's Ferry Dam
Greer's Ferry Dam was built on the Little Red River in north central Arkansas between 1959 & 1963. A concrete straight gravity dam 1704 ft. long and 249 ft high, it was built for the Corps of Engineers by a joint venture of Morrison-Knudsen, H. J. Kaiser and Johnson-Drake-Piper.  The Flood Control Act of 1938 approved the dam as part of a long range, 4 dam program for development of the White River Basin.  It was preceded by Norfork, Bull Shoals and Table Rock dams on the White River.  Congressional amendments in 1954 broadened the scope of the Greer's Ferry project to include power generation.
