New Year's Day 2004

The HU Ranch is but a few miles from the turn off to Palouse Falls.

I know there's a highway here some place, we've been here before.

The eye of the storm was passing over us, so I hiked out from the park while the others stayed near the falls, watching for sun on the ice. This area was easy going, but...

... the rocks were impossibly slick. The wind has kept the snow out of the sage foliage.

The weather was closing in again as we headed out to the main road

The rest of the storm was coming in as we started up the Tucannon River.

Every time I see this old silo, I think it's the last time I'll see it standing

The wind & snow both increased. We had a scenic trip back to town.

I can go home as soon as I dig my car out of 8 inches of new wind packed snow.
